✨ How I photograph sparkler exits::
1️⃣ - When there is enough ambient light in the area (lights from the buildings or it’s before sunset + sparkler light) I don’t shoot with a flash. I shoot around F2 to let in as much light as possible, shutter speed as low as I can go, and ISO as high as I can go without too much graininess (technically called “noise”). This gets that glowy look where there is a ton of bokeh and the sparklers look incredibly sparkly
2️⃣ - when there is not enough ambient light I shoot with a flash (like this photo). I use an external flash on top of my camera with settings like F4, shutter 1/250 and ISO 800. You can shoot with any setting combo you want to, but I have found that I higher aperture allows me to keep them in focus more easily. Since the flash negates most of the “fairy dust” from the sparklers anyway, I opt to shoot at a higher aperture to guarantee the bride and groom stay in focus. .
