The sheer amount of color in these photographs should give an idea of how much energy and enthusiasm this wedding had. The vibrance of the people and energy of this day (a long time coming) was almost tangible.
Stephanie and Steve hired me years ago to shoot their Virginia wedding. Green hills and the smell of rain? I’m in!
The original plan was to perform the ceremony on the hill overlooking the mountains, but that morning we were in a storm warning…thunder and lightning were crashing all around us. The ceremony moved to the covered balcony, where we also dance-partied the night away.
We were blessed with a few clear minutes of sky right when we needed to photograph the portraits, so we rushed outside (through mud) and worked efficiently to shoot all of the wedding party and couple portraits. Even though we were in a time crunch we got so many great photos and so many great emotions!
I know rainy wedding days are stressful, but stormy skies give such a gorgeous atmosphere to the images, don’t you think?

Fun Wedding Photography In Richmond Virginia
Steph and Steve are very fun people and they made sure the wedding reflected that…here are two of my favorite examples:
1. Steve’s face when he saw Steph for the first time.
2. Both the bride and groom love tattoos, so they had a custom tattoo bar at their reception! By the end of the night most of their guests were covered in little caricatures of Steph and Steve! Sneak a peek at the moment Steph saw her cartoon on her father’s forehead!
3. Steve hadn’t seen his marine buddies in over a decade. When they got back together at the wedding it was like they never missed a beat! So, of course, they decided to have a canoe race across the lake…and one of the boats capsized!
